Commonwealth Games worksite collapse sparks investigation

Workplace Health and Safety Officers will head to the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Athletes Village after a collapse at the worksite.

They were called to Parklands after a section of formwork supporting drying concrete gave way around 1:00pm on Wednesday.

Luckily no one was hurt.

The $500 million project is being led by Grocon and is expected to be completed by 2017.

The Government is working to extend the Light Rail system in time for the Commonwealth Games in 2018.
