Computer glitch halts Gold Coast rollercoaster

A computer fault was to blame for a popular Movie World rollercoaster becoming stuck on the Gold Coast yesterday, according to the theme park.

The Green Lantern rollercoaster came to a standstill on Sunday afternoon, with footage showing one cart stuck at the top of the conveyor belt.

The ride was halted for approximately half an hour, with occupants exited via a lift zone and one cart evacuated onto a lower stopping zone.

The same ride malfunctioned in March last year when a wheel component became loose, leaving 13 people stranded for three-and-a-half hours.

Firefighters and Emergency Services attended the theme park in March 2015, but were not required yesterday.

It comes after all 16 park attractions passed a safety audit on Friday, following the accident at Dreamworld that claimed the lives of four people last month.

The audit, which will be carried out at all parks in the state, is due to be completed by the end of November.
