Search continues for Qld sailor missing for a week

UPDATE @ February 21, 8.10am: A land and sea search will continue today for a Queensland man who disappeared after setting sail on his boat from the Hervey Bay Marina a week ago.

Keith Jones is believed to have left the Marina on February 14 but hasn’t been seen or made contact with anyone since.

A boat believed to belong to the missing 65-year-old was reportedly found washed up on rocks near Yamba on Tuesday afternoon.

Detectives say the man’s behaviour is out of character and he didn’t leave travel plans with anyone or mention where he may be going.

EARLIER @ February 20, 7.25am: CONCERNS are being held for a Queensland man, who has disappeared after setting sail on his boat from the Hervey Bay Marina almost a week ago.

Police said the man, aged in his 60s, is believed to have left the Marina on February 14 but hasn’t been seen or made contact with anyone since.

Detectives say the man’s behaviour is out of character and he didn’t leave travel plans with anyone or mention where he may be going.

His boat is a 34 foot MANITOU Ketch called ‘Wayfarer’ and it is unknown which direction it was headed.

Anyone who has seen the man or his boat are being urged to contact police.
