Conditions in Clarke’s final test heavily favour bowlers

ALEX HEINKE reports.

Outgoing Test captain Michael Clarke has predicted his final test will be over in three days due to the Oval’s pitch suiting the bowlers.

Clarke has ruled out a draw, not because of the Aussie batters recent struggles, but due to the exceptionally green pitch.

Australia suffered a batting collapse of 5 for 60 on day one of the third Test, while Stuart Broad snared 8 for 15 to skittle them for just 60 in the fourth Test.

The tourists were never going to fight back from that position and proceeded to hand the urn over with an embarrassing loss of an innings and 78 runs in Nottingham.

Clarke told the press he didn’t believe in fairy tale endings but was incredibly pleased with his time in the test side.
