THE GROUP behind a controversial planned mosque for Currumbin has launched an appeal against the City of Gold Coast’s decision to refuse it.
Salsabil Charitable Organisation filed documents in the Planning and Environment Court in Brisbane on Thursday, setting in motion what could be a very expensive legal battle for Gold Coast ratepayers.
There’s been reports the cost of fighting this application could cost Council over $1 million.

Last month, Council voted against approving the development 9 votes to 6 following a vast amount of backlash from the local community.
