POLICE have charged controversial Auburn Deputy Mayor Salim Mehajer after he allegedly threatened the father of Sydney Siege survivor Joel Herat.
Bruce Herat, who works at Anytime Fitness gym in Sydney’s inner-west as a personal trainer, claims Mr Mehajer threatened him after he asked him to stop slamming his weights on the floor.
Mr Mehajer allegedly told Mr Herat that he would have his children kidnapped after an argument at the gym on September 16.

Last week Mr Mehajer released a statement denying the claims, saying he would sue Mr Herat and the gym for $10 million in damages.
Today the Deputy Mayor, who has just recently announced his desire to become Prime Minister, was charged with intimidation and served a personal violence order.
He is due to face Burwood Local Court on November 19.
