Cooly Rocks On festival swings in to Coolangatta

Dust off your dancing shoes and throw on your best rockabilly outfits because the 2021 Cooly Rocks On festival has kicked off on the southern Gold Coast.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll and nostalgia festival is on from June 9 to 13 with a jam-packed lineup of music, cars and classic culture that celebrates the 50s, 60s and 70s.

Motor lovers can check out over 600 classic cars on display as part of the Shannons Show ‘N’ Shine, view the hottest Indian Motorcycles, and stop by Cooly Rocks On’s newest addition, Kustomville, which is a display of traditional-style rods, kustoms, bombs, and lowriders, as well as an array of lowbrow art.

Further to the already bursting program, this year Cooly Rocks On has added a range of activities for Elvis enthusiasts, including the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest and Elvis Tribute Artist Headliners.

Major Events Gold Coast’s Festival Director, Mark Duckworth, said visitors can expect five days of quality of entertainment.

“Cooly Rocks On is the only festival in the country where you can find our Miss Cooly Rocks On and Miss Rockabilly pageants, the Elvis Presley Enterprises sanctioned Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest, the Harvest Moon Swing Ball and world-class rock ‘n’ roll, swing and rockabilly musicians, all of which allow us to showcase a different side of eras gone by and broaden the overall festival appeal,” said Mr Duckworth.
