Police were first on the scene and worked frantically to keep the woman alive until paramedics arrived and took over CPR.

It’s understood paramedics continued CPR in the back of the ambulance while en route to Westmead Hospital, but sadly, the woman was pronounced dead on arrival.

A crime scene was established at the Guildford intersection and examined by specialist investigators from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.

Police are desperately searching for the driver of the car involved, which has not been described.

Detectives are urging any witnesses or anyone with information about this incident to come forward.
