Cops hunt sex predator after girl attacked in Melbourne park

POLICE are hunting a sex predator who allegedly attacked a teenage girl as she walked through a park in Melbourne last night.

The 16-year-old girl was enjoying an evening fitness walk through Centenary Park in Bentleigh East around 6pm when she was ambushed.

As the girl made her way towards Greendale Road, police said a man grabbed her from behind and sexually assaulted her.

Following a brief struggle, police said the girl managed to break free from her attackers grip and run home.

Police said the girl was not physically injured in the attack.

Detectives are no investigating and are appealing for anyone who may have been in the Centenary Park area last night to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
