Cops find cannabis crop, $35k in cash following industrial fire in NSW

Police have uncovered a large hydroponic cannabis crop and more than $35,000 in cash following a fire at an industrial site in Lake Macquarie.

Fire crews were called to reports of a fire in the industrial area on Kalaroo Road in Redhead shortly after midday on Friday.

Fire fighters worked to extinguish the blaze, after which it’s alleged they uncovered a hydroponic set up.


Police were called and conducted a search of the premises, during which it’s alleged they found 38 cannabis plants, more than eight kilograms of cannabis leaf and more than $35,000 in cash.

As investigations into the discovery continue and detectives work to identify the suspect or suspects behind the drug growing operation, police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
