Cotton On to shut stores in response to coronavirus outbreak

Cotton On is the latest retailer to announce it will shut its stores amid a major retail slowdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Cotton On will close all its Australian stores from 5pm on Sunday.

It’s not clear how many staff will be affected by the shutdown.

The moves comes after Myer announced it will also shut down its stores for at least four weeks from Sunday, with 10,000 staff to be stood down.

“We want to say a huge thank you to our retail teams who have continued to amaze us with their hard work during this tough time. And to our customers, thank you for your support,” Cotton On said on Facebook.

“We know the new normal is going to take some getting used to, so please know that we’re here for you.

“You can still shop with us online 24/7. We do free returns anytime, free shipping over $60 and contactless delivery.”
