Council forced to shut Currumbin Rock Pools because of contamination

One of the most popular swimming spots on the Gold Coast has been closed because of water contamination.

Currumbin Rock Pools will be off-limits to the public for the time being after testing found the water is unsafe for swimming.

It’s believed runoff from recent rains has caused the problems.

A spokesperson for Gold Coast City Council says it’s not clear when the pools will reopen but it’s likely to be several days.

Council will continue to conduct daily testing of the water.

People are being urged not to swim there with signs put up to warn every one of the dangers.

I was swimming there just before they were closed. I’ve been sick since then. Still am. I’ve had blood tests and urine taken but my Dr can’t say what I’m sick with. Symptoms are sore throat, swollen tongue, pain in my abdomen and kidney area, a rash all over my body, skin sensitivity on my hands and feet and excruciating headache. All articles just say it’s closed, no info for people who may have been swimming there the day before they were closed by council?????
