Council secures 88ha parklands for Yatala

A LARGE peice of land zoned for future industry use on the northern Gold Coast will be kept as parkland after being snapped up by City Council, it has been confirmed.

Divison One Councillor Donna Gates today announced Enkleman Farm at Yatala will be retained as green space after council successfully secured a contract for the land.

The Stanmore Road property will cater for the more than 65,000 people who are expected to make the move to the city’s northern corridor in the next 15 years.

“This is a most significant purchase and I know how very pleased everyone will be that this magnificent 88ha parcel of land has now been acquired,” Cr Gates said.

“It will cater for the recreational and sporting needs of more than 65,000 Gold Coast residents projected to move to the north of the city in the next 15 years.”

Enkleman Farm had been zoned for future industry use in the City’s planning schemes for decades.

It is not known how much council paid for the land.
