Council worker seriously injured in freak accident
A COUNCIL worker has been rushed to hospital in a serious condition following a freak accident in Brisbane.
The man aged in his 60s was working at a bus maintenance depot on Sherbrook Road in Willawong when the accident happened just before 10am on Wednesday.
Speaking to myGC, a Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said the man, who is believed to be a Brisbane City Council mechanic, was struck in the head with a “projectile object flung from an airbag”.
A team of paramedics worked on the man at the scene before rushing him to hospital with head and facial injuries.
He was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious condition.
Queensland Ambulance said a critical care paramedic accompanied the man to hospital in the ambulance.
Workplace Health and Safety Queensland is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
