IN 99 days, Greenmount Beach will stage a world premiere outdoor music spectacular – Opera on the Beach.
To celebrate the countdown to the event, Minister for Tourism Jann Stuckey MP joined local lifeguards on the beach on Friday to write a message in the sand.
More than 9000 locals and tourists are expected to hit the beach in May to enjoy an exclusive outdoor performance of Mozart’s The Magic Flute.

Directed by Queensland theatre luminary Michael Gow, the show will star some of Opera Australia’s finest singers alongside a chorus of Gold Coasters.
The world premiere event has been tailor-made for Queensland and designed for a 21st century audience, with a superb live orchestra, sumptuous costumes, countless theatrical surprises and a fireworks finale.
Opera on the Beach plays just three performances from 9-11 May at Greenmount Beach, Coolangatta as an extension of the third annual Bleach* Festival.
