Melbourne police have swarmed on the city’s northern suburbs as they conduct counter terror raids.
It appears it may be in connection with the Brighton siege earlier this week, which claimed the life of a man and the gunman and left three officers injured.
Victoria Police have confirmed an operation is underway.

“Victoria Police and their partners within the Joint Counter Terrorism Team are conducting a police operation in the northern suburbs this morning,” Victoria Police said in a statement on Friday.
“As this relates to an ongoing investigation, it is not appropriate to comment further.
“The safety of the community and our members is paramount and more information will be released when it is safe to do so.”
The Nine Network says the operation is happening at Ascot Vale.
