Couple accused of stealing man’s credit card allegedly withdrew $33k

A man and woman have been charged with stealing a man’s credit card and using it to withdraw more than $33,000 from ATM’s across Sydney.

In November last year, a bank sent a 57-year-old man a credit card in the mail, however he never ended up receiving the card.

Police said that between 16 December 2016 and 18 January 2017, numerous withdrawals were made at ATMs in Sydney using the card, totalling about $33,000.

Following investigations into the theft, police yesterday executed a search warrant at a Five Dock home, arresting a 37-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man.

They were both taken to Burwood Police Station, where the man was charged with dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception (x14); deal with identity info to commit indictable offence; and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.

The woman was charged with dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception (x6); deal with identity info to commit indictable offence; and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.
