Couple arrested over violent crime spree on the Gold Coast

A man and a woman have been arrested over a number of serious offences on the Gold Coast in the early hours of this morning.

Around 5.15am police were conducting street checks on a man and a woman in a car on the Esplanade at Paradise Point when it was discovered the 43-year-old man was wanted for questioning by police.

At this time the pair became violent and the woman attempted to grab a police radio from an officer before attempting to take another officer’s gun.

The couple drove off in the car and struck a tree before reversing and hitting the side of the police vehicle. The car continued travelling south along Bayview Street.

The car was observed to travel into Huon Avenue at Runaway Bay before the pair ran into a strangers nearby home, where they were arrested.

Investigations are continuing.
