Couple charged with biting off man’s ear in Byron Bay

A MAN and woman have been charged after allegedly biting off part of a man’s ear during a violent fight in Bryon Bay.

Police said the horrifying attack happened about 12.30am on Sunday.

“The man and woman were walking along Jonson Street when they became involved in an altercation with a 26-year-old man known to them,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“Police allege the man and woman commenced to assault the man by kicking and punching him to the head and body.

“It is further alleged the man’s ear was partially bitten off during the attack.”

The pair were immediately taken into custody by passing officers and the injured man was rushed to Byron Bay Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

The 33-year-old man was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm in company and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The 30-year-old woman was charged with one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
