Couple charged over terrifying abduction of teen girls in NSW

A man and a woman have been charged after they allegedly abducted two teenage girls near Queanbeyan in NSW.

The terrifying incident occurred just before midday on Wednesday.

Police said two girls, both aged 14, were walking along Donald Road at Karabar when they were forced into the backseat of a car which pulled up beside them.

The car then sped away, with a woman in the vehicle threatening the teens and taking their mobile phones.

“The couple allegedly took the girls mobile phones and drove them through several suburbs while allegedly threatening them,” police said in a statement.

The couple then dropped the teens back at Donald Road, with police alerted to the incident.

During a patrol of the area, officers located the man, 21, and woman, 35, nearby.

They were arrested and charged with take/detain person in company with intent to obtain advantage.

Police say it’s understood “those involved are known to each other.”
