UPDATE at 3:35 PM | A MAN and his wife have been taken to hospital after crashing their car into a creek on the Gold Coast.
For reasons unknown, the couple’s Toyota sedan mounted a kerb in a carpark off Signato Drive at Helensvale and slid down a slippery embankment into Saltwater Creek just after 1pm.
Firefighters were first to arrive and helped the couple out of the car and back up the slippery slope.

The husband and wife duo were assessed by paramedics at the scene before being transported to hospital.
They were taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in stable conditions as a precaution.
The couple’s car, which entered the creek near the Star Liquor Warehouse, has since been retrieved from the water.

The Toyota sedan left Siganto Drive and plunged into Saltwater Creek at Helensvale just after 1.30pm.
It’s understood both the driver and passenger were initially trapped in the vehicle but managed to free themselves before emergency services arrived.
Incredibly, the occupants are believed to have escaped with only minor injuries.
The couple was assessed by paramedics at the scene and have been taken to hospital as a precaution.
Their genders and ages were not immediately known.
It’s one of many wet weather related crashes that have kept emergency crews busy on the Coast.
A driver found themselves stuck in a ditch beside the M1 at Oxenford after leaving the road about 8am.
Meanwhile, another driver found themselves stuck in a similar situation following a crash at Helensvale.
A Holden Commodore, slid out on Hope Island Road near River Links Boulevard about 11am.
