Two hurt after car crashes through front yard of Sydney home

An elderly couple have been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after losing control of their car around a roundabout and crashing through the front yard of a home in Sydney’s west.

The accident happened in Greystanes at around 10.20am.

Police said a Toyota Aurion was travelling along Old Prospect Road when it lost control at a roundabout and hurtled through the front fence of a house.

The driver, an 85-year-old man, and his passenger, a 76-year-old woman, had to be assisted out of the car by NSW Fire & Rescue officers.

Police said both the man and the woman sustained serious injuries.

They were both treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Westmead Hospital.

No one else was injured during the incident.

Police are investigating whether the man suffered a medical episode prior to the crash.
