Couple shot at, chased out of unit at gunpoint

A WOMAN who allegedly opened fire on two people before chasing them out of a unit at gunpoint in Byron Bay has been charged over the frightening incident.

The 54-year-old woman allegedly turned up at the Main Arm Road unit armed with an air rifle on Tuesday afternoon and started shooting at a 32-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man.

The older woman then allegedly chased the couple out of the unit and followed them to a neighbouring property where it’s alleged she threatened them and a 39-year-old woman at gunpoint.

Incredibly, no one was injured during the ordeal.

Police were called and arrested the 54-year-old woman who was taken to Byron Bay Police Station and charged with three counts of stalking/intimidate and using an unauthorised firearm.

The woman was also charged with possessing an unauthorised firearm and firearm likely to injure.

The 54-year-old was released on conditional bail and is due to appear in Mullumbimby Local Court next month.
