Gold Coasters who have lost work as a result of the southeast’s snap lockdown can start accessing the Australian Government’s COVID-19 Disaster Payments from today.
The Commonwealth assistance is being made available to impacted residents in the 11 local government areas ordered to stay at home due to the state’s latest virus outbreak.
Queenslanders who have lost 20 or more hours of work due to the lockdown will be eligible to claim the Australian Government payment of $750 per week.

While those who have lost between 8 and 20 hours of work will receive a handout of $450.
Member for Fadden, Stuart Robert, said eligible workers will be back-paid to the start of the lockdown.
“The Federal Government is committed to ensuring that all Australians, including Gold Coast residents impacted by the current state government lockdown, have a safety net to get them through this pandemic,” Mr Robert said.
“Across Australia, we’ve processed more than 1.27 million COVID-19 Disaster Payment claims, paying out more than $1.2 billion to workers in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.
“And from today, Gold Coast residents who meet eligibility criteria can receive this financial assistance too”.
