A man accused of killing a grandfather in a coward punch attack on the Gold Coast has had his charged upgraded.
Tristan Heather, 18, allegedly punched Trevor Duroux, 40, in the back of the head when he was reportedly attempting to break up a fight outside the Coolangatta Hotel around 2.25am on Friday December 4.
The punch was so hard it forced Mr Duroux to fall to the ground and hit his head on the cement.

Mr Duroux was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital, however he sadly passed away on Monday.
Appearing in Southport Magistrates court this morning, Mr Heather was informed that his charged had formally been upgraded from grievous bodily harm to unlawfully striking causing death.
He was remanded in custody to next appear in court on February 11.
