Crackdown nets 946 bikies on 2274 charges

IT has been revealed more than 900 bikies and associates have been arrested in the eight months following the infamous Broadbeach bikie brawl which sparked a nationwide crackdown on criminal gangs.

Families were left cowering in fear when dozens of leather-vested Bandido’s began brawling outside a popular Broadbeach restaurant in September last year.

Bikies then laid siege to the Southport police station in an effort to free their detained comrades.

The AAP reports everyone arrested under Operation Resolute was linked to a criminal gang – not one recreational rider was nabbed.

Police Minister Jack Dempsey told parliament 946 criminal motorcycle gang members have been arrested and charged with 2274 offences since the crackdown.
