Crash triggers traffic mayhem on Gold Coast’s M1

UPDATE 11:50AM | TRAFFIC has returned to normal on the Pacific Motorway at Reedy Creek following an earlier accident.

A crash in the northbound lanes of the M1 near the Reedy Creek exit triggered extensive delays around 10:30am, causing traffic to back up for more than seven kilometres.

A male patient was taken by ambulance to the Gold Coast University Hospital. Paramedics say the man sustained a shoulder injury in the collision.

EARLIER: TRAFFIC has been thrown into disarray on the Pacific Motorway following a multi-vehicle crash at Reedy Creek.

The accident occurred in the northbound lanes around 10:30am. There are reports a car rolled off the back of a trailer.

Police are on the scene and have reportedly closed all northbound lanes while crews work to clear the obstruction.

Delays of 50-minutes are being experienced, with northbound traffic backed up for at least seven kilometres.

It remains unclear whether anyone has been injured, or how many vehicles are involved.

Motorists have been urged to avoid the area.
