Crash victim airlifted to hospital with life-threatening head injuries

A man has been airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being flung from a motorcycle in a horror crash on the NSW Central Coast this morning.

The accident happened on the Old Pacific Highway near Cowan Road at Mooney Mooney just after 10.30am.

Police say a Holden Commodore ute collided with a motorcycle.

The 54-year-old male rider was critically injured.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being flown by Westpac Rescue Helicopter to Westmead Hospital with critical head injuries.

The man’s female pillion passenger was also treated at the scene for an injury to her wrist before being taken by ambulance to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.

The driver of the Holden utility, a man in his mid 20s, was not injured.

He was breath tested at the scene and returned a negative result.

As investigations continue into the cause of the accident, police are urging witnesses to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
