A WOMAN is fighting for her life in a Gold Coast hospital following a horror crash south of the border.
The 76-year-old woman from Tweed Heads was critically injured when her Hyundai i30 collided with a Holden Captiva in South Murwillumbah on Tuesday.
It happened in the southbound lanes of the Tweed Valley Way just after midday.

Police said following the initial impact with the Captiva, the Hyundai then crossed onto the wrong side of the road and smashed into a signpost before flipping.
The 76-year-old behind the wheel of the Hyundai was critically injured in the collision, police said.
She was transported to Gold Coast Hospital with severe head injuries.
The four occupants of the Holden escaped uninjured.
The female driver was taken to Murwillumbah Hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.
