Crash victim run over and killed while trying to flag down passing car for help

A MAN has been run over and killed while trying to flag down a passing motorist for help after crashing his car into a ditch at Oakhurst, north of the Sunshine Coast.

The horrific accident happened on the Maryborough-Biggenden Rd, near Mungar Rd, around 8pm on Saturday.

Police said the man was driving along the road when he lost control of his car and crashed into a ditch.

The driver managed to get out of his car and walk back up to the road to seek assistance from a passing motorist.

Police said that’s when tragedy struck.

As the man went to return to his car, he was run over by another vehicle travelling along the road.

Tragically, the man could not be saved and was pronounced deceased by paramedics at the scene.

His age was not immediately known.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
