Crashes trigger long delays on Gold Coast’s M1

A multi-vehicle traffic crash is causing heavy delays for motorists travelling along the M1 on the Gold Coast this afternoon.

It’s understood several cars came to grief northbound on the Nerang River Bridge around 1.00pm.

There are reports the accident was triggered by an earlier incident involving a motorcycle. Paramedics are on the scene assessing the rider for cuts and abrasions.

It remains unclear how many people, if any, have been injured in the second accident.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area with delays being experienced in both directions.
