Crews battle Gold Coast rubbish fire
FIREFIGHTERS are battling a large rubbish fire burning on the northern Gold Coast.
Five fire trucks are on the scene off Pimpama-Jacobs Well Road at Pimpama.
The fire is burning on a private property and was first reported just before 7am on Sunday.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokeswoman told myGC there was no threat to residents in the area.
Smoke, however, may affect locals and motorists driving through the area.
As a precaution, residents are advised to close their doors and windows and keep respiratory medications close by.
Paramedics are at the scene on standby.
