UPDATE: Fire crews have extinguished a fire that engulfed a residential care facility in Ashmore this morning.
It’s understood the blaze was under control at 6.50am, around an hour after it started.
Firefighters say the roof of the building has collapsed.

The lounge room and kitchen are still standing but the rest of the building has suffered extensive damage.
There are no reports of injuries at this stage.
EARLIER: Several fire crews are battling a blaze at an Ashmore residence this morning.
It’s understood the fire started at the Cotlew Street building around 5.45am.
Six separate fire crews are currently at the scene.
It’s not yet known the extent of the damage.
It’s believed all residents have been evacuated and accounted for and crews are conducting a search of the residence.
Nearby residents have reported seeing a lot of smoke in the area.
The street has been closed to traffic as fire investigators and police inspect the scene.
Wardoo Street nearby is also experiencing traffic delays as a result.
Avoid the area if possible.
