Crews extinguish Pimpama grass fire

UPDATE @ 5.15 PM | Crews have managed to extinguish a grass fire burning at Pimpama.

The blaze erupted behind a house on Matthews Crescent about 3.30pm on Wednesday, with five crews called to battle the flames.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokesperson told myGC the fire was now completely out.

There was no reports of any damage.

EARLIER @ 4.00 PM | Multiple crews are battling a grass fire burning in bushland at Pimpama this afternoon.

The blaze is understood to have erupted in an area behind a house near Matthews Crescent about 3.30pm on Wednesday.

Three crews are on scene working to extinguish the flames, with another two enroute to help out.

“There is a vegetation fire about 50m x 30m at this location,” QFES said.

Local residents and motorists are being warned they may be affected by smoke in the area.

“Residents should close their doors and windows and keep medication close by if suffering from a respiratory condition,” QFES said.

“Motorists should use caution and drive to conditions.”
