Crews extinguish grass fire at Clagiraba

FIRE FIGHTERS quickly contained a grass fire which flared under severe fire conditions at Clagiraba on the Gold Coast this afternoon.
Fire fighters were called to the blaze burning in a small paddock of Henri Robert Drive at around 3.50pm.
At 4.33pm, the fire was listed as ‘contained’. Thankfully, there was no immediate threat.
By 4.50pm, the fire was extinguished.
Due to extreme temperatures and an anticipated gusty wind change in the afternoon, crews were already on alaert at the time of the call and were able to respond quickly.
The weather bureau had issued a Fire Weather Warning for the Southeast Coast on Saturday, warning fires had the potential to become unpredictable, uncontrollable and fast-moving under a Severe Fire Danger rating.
