Six rural fire crews and one urban crew are on the fire ground.

There remains no immediate threat to surrounding property, although precautionary protection measures were undertaken nearby two homes earlier on Monday afternoon.

Crews have managed to bring the blaze under control and will remain on scene into the night, completing backburning operations to ensure the fire remains contained.

The fire is causing a lot of smoke, which will be visible around much of the Gold Coast.

Residents who suffer from respiratory illnesses are advised to keep windows and doors closed and medication close by.
