Man charged with manslaughter after body pulled from Logan River

UPDATE @ July 10 | A man has been charged with manslaughter after another man was found dead in the Logan River yesterday.

Police allege the two men, who were known to each other, became involved in an “altercation” on the riverbank around 7.00am.

“As a result, one man was reported missing in the Albert River,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

It’s since been revealed the victim, a 27-year-old man, was expecting a baby with his partner in just over two months time.

A 30-year-old man is due to appear before the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on July 12 charged with one count of manslaughter.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.

EARLIER @ July 9 | Investigations are underway after a man’s body was pulled from the Logan River at Eagleby this morning.

Police made the grim find around 7.30am, after a person called triple-zero to report that a man had disappeared in the river.

“Officers and water police attended and conducted patrols of the area, before the body of a 27-year-old man was located,” Queensland police said.

Newscorp reports the man was “play-wrestling” with another man when he fell into the water.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing.
