Crime scene established after body found in shed destroyed by fire

Forensic specialists will return to the scene of a shed fire in NSW today following the discovery of a man’s body.

Emergency crews made the discovery about 12.30am Monday after being called to a property in Stewarts River after reports of a blaze.

Upon arrival, a two-car garage, which had been converted into a residence, was found well alight.

Fire crews managed to have the fire extinguished by 2.10am, however sadly, the body of a man – believed to be the 74-year-old male resident – was found inside.

A crime scene was established which will be examined by forensic specialists.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
