Crime Stoppers tip-off leads police to $1.5M cannabis haul

A Crime Stoppers tip off has led police to a massive $1.5 million haul of cannabis in Sydney’s north-west.

It was one of two hydroponic cannabis houses uncovered by officers during raids yesterday.

Police said they executed a search warrant on the first home at Dundas after receiving a tip-off from a member of the public.

Every room inside the three-bedroom house had been used to cultivate hydroponic cannabis with the plants recently harvested. About 125kg of cannabis was located underneath the house with an estimated potential street value of more than $1 million.

Detectives then raided a second home, at Ermington, where they found 109 cannabis plants growing in the house’s four bedrooms.

The estimated potential street value of the drugs seized from the second house is $450,000.

Police believe both homes were used solely for the cultivation of hydroponic cannabis, with no one located at either of the houses.

Investigations are now underway.
