Critical investigation launched after man injured on NSW Central Coast

POLICE have launched a critical investigation into an incident where a man stabbed himself at a unit on the NSW Central Coast last night.

Officers were called to the unit on Teal Close at Green Point just before 10pm following reports that a man had stabbed himself with a knife.

Officers at the scene attempted to subdue the 41-year-old man, who they said had suffered a self-inflicted stab wound.

He was eventually detained and taken to Gosford Hospital in a serious condition.

A critical investigation team from Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command has been tasked to investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident.

That investigation will be subject to independent review.
