Critically injured driver found lying on road after horror crash

A YOUNG man is in a critical condition, fighting to stay alive in hospital following a horror crash in country New South Wales.

The man’s vehicle left the road and rolled on Cypress Way at Gwabegar, about 100km south west of Narrabri, about 5am on Saturday.

Police said a passing motorist found a 20-year-old man lying in the middle of the road with life-threatening injuries.


A second, 18-year-old man was found further down the road, attempting to get assistance.

The older man was airlifted to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.

His passenger was taken to Narrabri Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

They particularly want to speak with anyone who may have been driving through the area with a dash camera.
