A CROCODILE handler has lost part of his hand following an attack at a Queensland reptile park.

58 year old Ian Jenkins was conducting a crocodile feeding show at Snakes Downunder on Sunday afternoon when the reptile leapt out of the water.

He had been trying to gain the attention of the crocodile with his hat in his left hand and a chicken in his right hand, when it bit his left hand pulling him into the water.
