FIREFIGHTERS have extinguished a fire which flared up outside the Currumbin RSL Club this afternoon.
The blaze broke out in dry vegetation behind a bus stop on Duringan Street around 3pm.
It produced large amounts of smoke as flames spread quickly through the scrub and into a large tree in the carpark.

Firefighters were quick to get to the scene and were able to put the fire out before it consumed any cars.
The Club was shrouded in smoke while crews worked to douse the flames and dampen the smouldering scrub.
Visibility on the M1 was also affected as gusty north-easterly winds fanned thick smoke across the motorway.
Fortunately, thanks to fast responding firefighters, no damage was caused to the RSL Club.
