A CURRUMBIN local has won the 2014 Chiko Queensland Championship Circuit at the Burleigh Classic.
Cory Ziems and his fellow competitors were met with great conditions for the three-event series yesterday morning, before slowly deteriorating throughout the day.
North Stradbroke’s Tim Macdonald (now living at Miami) posted his first win of the year by taking out the third and final event of the day. However it was Ziems with an accumulative points total that saw him take out the series.

At the beginning of today’s finals, four surfers stood in contention for the series title, but with Macdonald’s win over Coolum’s Dave Reardon-Smith, the title was placed firmly in the hands of the Currumbin surfer.
Coolangatta’s Nick Vasicek will also receive a wildcard into the 2015 Quiksilver Pro Trials along with Ziems after placing second in the overall ratings.
The Sunshine Coast’s Jack Duggan managed a $1000 prize in the Bruce Lynton Land Rover expression session after nailing the biggest air of the super-heat with 20-plus surfers all hitting the Burleigh Heads lineup.
The 2014 series is now done and dusted with results to ultimately decide the 2014 Team to represent Queensland at the forth coming Australian Titles.
