Cyclist killed during early morning ride in Port Macquarie

A cyclist has died in a horror collision with a semi-trailer at Port Macquarie today.

The fatal accident happened on the Oxley Highway, about 2km east of the Pacific Highway, at 6am.

“A 50-year-old King Creek man was riding his push-bike on the Oxley Highway,” NSW police said in a statement.

“A semi-trailer, being driven by a 42-year-old Port Macquarie man, was also travelling on the Oxley Highway, when the two collided.”

The cyclist was treated at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to Port Macquarie Base Hospital where he later died.

The driver was also taken to hospital for mandatory tests.

A full investigation is now underway, with police appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.
