Damond lawyer to probe US police records

THE lawyer representing Justine Ruszczyk Damond’s grieving Australian family will probe US police officer Mohamed Noor’s work, training and psychological records.

Robert Bennett – a high-profile Minnesota lawyer – is preparing to file a civil rights lawsuit on behalf of the family accusing Officer Noor and the City of Minneapolis of the unnecessary use of deadly force against Ms Damond.

The 40-year-old was fatally shot last week in an alleyway after police responded to her 911 call.

She had heard a possible assault taking place behind her home in Minneapolis, and was reportedly in her pyjamas when she was shot multiple times.

Her family say they want to bring her home to Australia for a farewell among family and friends.
