Darius Boyd makes shock retirement from representative football

Brisbane Broncos captain Darius Boyd has quit representative football.

The star fullback made the announcement overnight, joining retired fellow Queenslanders Johnathan Thurston, Cooper Cronk, Cameron Smith and Billy Slater.

The 30-year-old’s decision means he will not be available for a recall in State of Origin Game two after missing out on the series opener at the MCG.
