Dashcam footage wanted over brazen carjacking

A woman has been threatened by a man wielding a tomahawk during a brazen carjacking in broad daylight in Toowoomba, west of Brisbane.

The 29-year-old parked her white Honda HRV near a Birch Street home in Darling Heights around 11am on Saturday.

She was nearby when a group of juvenile males got into the car.

As she ran towards it, one of the males got out and ran off, but another stayed in the car and threatened the woman with a tomahawk when she opened the door.

The group then drove away in the vehicle, which was later found on Massey Street in Kingsthorpe, 27km north west from Darling Heights.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage from the area to come forward.

They’ve also asked for anyone who saw four to five juvenile males in the vicinity of Birch and Platz Streets between 10.30am and 11.15am, to contact police.
