DAY THREE: Busy night for paramedics as police praise Schoolies

Paramedics have been kept on their feet as Schoolies hit the streets of Surfers Paradise for Day Three of celebrations.

A total of 83 teens were assessed within the dedicated schoolies medical hub overnight.

Of those, just six needed to be taken to hospital for further treatment.

There were no major incidents, however, police have confirmed to myGC that two male Schoolies were arrested for street offences.

It was the Toolies once again causing the most trouble on the Glitter Strip, with 27 non-schoolies taken into custody for street and public nuisance type offences.

It comes after police yesterday labelled the class of 2021 the “best behaved” Schoolies in years.

Since the festival kicked off on Friday night, there have been just six teens taken into custody for minor offences including public nuisance.

“Since 2017, over the last five years of Schoolies operations being recorded here on the Gold Coast, figures so far have revealed this cohort of schoolies are actually the best,” Acting Chief Superintendent Rhys Wildman said.

“That is a really, really encouraging sign… It’s a real credit to everyone.

“I’m sure that also provides some relief to parents who are no doubt a bit concerned about sending their child down to schoolies, but they are being well looked after.”
