Daydream to be reinvented after cyclone Debbie

Daydream Island Resort and Spa will shut for more than a year after it was badly damaged by Tropical Cyclone Debbie at the end of March.

On March 30 the venue announced it would not accept any new arrivals until April 30.

But after checking how bad the damage really was, management decided to bring forward renovations planned for 2018.

The closure has led to staff redundancies and cancellation of bookings.

When the resort re-opens mid-2018, it will have undergone a $50 million redevelopment.
